Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God….” NKJV
As a young man I learned something valuable in carpentry and as time went by understood how important that lesson was in life. That truth or principle was “The foundation must be first and solid.”
If you are to build a building you must first have a solid foundation otherwise your building will be weak and possibly unsafe. If you want to build a relationship, you must first have a solid foundation or the relationship will have nothing upon which to build. That is true for business relationships, marriage, friendships, and all relationships including your spiritual relationship.
The Foundation must be first and must be correct and strong. First things must be first in carpentry and in life and in life that first is GOD! I had a college biology professor tell me that his religion and evolution did not conflict. He proudly declared that he was a devout member of a particular denomination as well as a devout evolutionist and the two did not conflict. I told him that mine did! It resulted in me being banned from speaking in the class on any subject for the remainder of the semester.
My foundation was ‘God Is’ and He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth and all that exists! My beginning is God, and upon that foundation, I have built my life. Your house must be built upon the rock-solid foundation of God or it will not weather the storms of life. Without that foundation your faith will waver, your ability to stand against the storms of life and the attacks of the enemy will not stand. Without that foundation you will be like a reed blowing in the wind or a ship tossed on the sea, you will never have stability.
But, if your foundation is GOD and upon Him, The Rock of Ages you establish your foundation you will be able to weather any storm, withstand any trial and defeat any enemy! Let nothing be first in your life but God! If you have drifted from that foundation, go back and reestablish it as your bedrock. He is waiting for your return!
Blessings as you enjoy this wonderful day in Him!
