Psalm 8:3-4 – “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; 4 What is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him?” NASU
I never cease to be amazed at the Love God has for man and in the Book of Psalms, we encounter so many revelations of incredible truths regarding God’s care and keeping of man. There are truths that leap off the page and excite the heart exploding in a new sense of spiritual power as we meditate on the Psalms. I recommend them daily! When we invest our time in the Psalms we come away with a new awareness of the Majesty of the Almighty and the incomprehensible Love He has for His creation.
Here in Psalm 8, David gives us an infusion of Hope and a sense of Security as Children of God. In verse one he cries out, “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth…” He recognizes the sovereignty, power, and longsuffering of God. In verse one through three he draws our attention to God in His Glory, God’s Incredible Work, and God’s Infinite Power.
In verse four he draws a contrast between God and man. In comparison to God, man seems so small and insignificant. Man appears utterly helpless, frail, and almost useless. In contrast to God’s Glory, Majesty, Power, and Perfection, man seems completely and hopelessly imperfect. In contrast to God’s creation, he asks, “What is Man?” Why would the Creator God even care about such a puny creature as man?
It is extremely easy for any of us to feel the unworthiness of humanity. If we allow that to thrive and expand it will cause us to develop a morbid sense of our unimportance, worthlessness, and hopelessness. But, and that is the key. But, in God’s eyes, you are important and far more important than you think, and the devil tries to convince you.
One thing that every person needs to know in the face of trial, tribulation, temptation, or persecution is – “We Are Important to God!” We are important enough for Him to care for us and provide for our wellbeing. I ask that you join me in considering the Worth of man to God.
- Man is More Valuable Than All the Creatures of the Earth.
In Genesis 1:26, man was given dominion over creation, none of God’s created beings other than man have souls, and the animals and plants become sources of food, service, and use for man. You are more valuable than the sparrows that God cares for or the lilies of the field.
- Man is Created in the Image and Likeness of God.
We are the reflection of God and included in our earthly assignment is to manifest Him.
- The Soul of Man Is Worth More Than the Earth Itself.
Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:26 bring understanding. He said, “For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Our Creator has ascribed unparalleled worth to man’s soul. God, who created us knows every detail of our lives, character, makeup, and being. He values man as His highest creation and created us for fellowship with Him.
- Man Is Important Enough for God to be Willing to See Christ’s Blood Shed.
Need I point to any other passage but John 3:16 and Romans 5:8? God loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son for us. He has commended His love toward us, while we were yet in sin, allowing Jesus to die for us. He has provided Redemption for man if we will only receive it. He made that incredible sacrifice to purchase us back from the powers of darkness.
- Man Is Important Enough for Jesus to Return for Us.
John 14 should calm all our fears and concerns. Jesus is coming back for those who wait for, walk after, and watch for Him. I urge you to consider the provisions of God. You may feel inferior, unimportant, insignificant, worthless, hopeless, and helpless, but GOD Values You Highly! You are Worth the Blood of Jesus, to Him!
We have nothing to fear because God is for us. We have no reason to worry because God is our Provider. We need to remember that according to the Word of God we are Royalty. We are God’s Children! According to Matthew 10:28-31 we are more valuable than anything God created. We can cast all our care on Him because He cares for us. We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus. Settle it in your heart – You Are Important to God!
Never again, look at yourself as being without value, that is an insult to the Father and to trample on the Blood of Jesus. He died that we might live!
God bless you as you enjoy this wonderful day in Him!
