Psalm 139:7 – “Where can I go to escape your Spirit?  Where can I flee to escape your presence?”

As I read, prayed, and mused on the Word of God today, the words Presence, Provision, and Power kept echoing in my heart and head.

As I read in Job, I was amused and then humbled by God’s questioning of Job in chapters 38-40.   God began asking questions that scientists today are still unfolding, and in Job 40:6, God said Now let’s move from kindergarten to higher education.   

Job couldn’t fathom the kindergarten stuff; how could he handle graduate school?  This speaks of the incredibleness of God and provides a solid foundation upon which to build our trust. He created and sustains it all.  How can we not trust Him?   We have difficulty because we keep relying on what we know rather than who He is.  I don’t have to know all things; I have to know the one who is all things!

I find it interesting that Psalm 1 would follow Job 42.  The unique contrast in human thinking and total surrender is powerful.   Psalm 5:3 has long been my guide. “LORD, in the morning You will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to You and then wait expectantly for an answer.”

Before that, I rely on the directive of Psalm 4:4-8.  Before sleep, think! Meditate on the things of God and the person of God.  That conditions the heart for downloads in the night, and verse 8 gives a powerful promise. “I will lie down and sleep peacefully, for You, LORD, make me safe and secure.” When I can’t sleep, I meditate on God, and when peace comes, sleep comes!”

Luke 9:23 provides an understanding and doorway to a strong relationship with Jesus. Daily recommitment and renewed focus on Jesus. The process requires persistence.   That is emphasized in Luke 11:9-10: Ask, Seek, Knock. It strengthens faith and teaches trust.

Make the prayer we call the Lord’s Prayer our daily investment.  You see the Five Ps. First is Praise, followed by His Presence, from which flows His Provision, Pardon, and Protection.

Luke 12:31 reinforces the reality that Provision comes through a Relationship with God. Jesus desires for us to have an Abundant Life and be able to manifest Him. What better way than to be a demonstrated example of His peace, power, protection, and provision? This God is our God; giving all to Him is safe!

Father, help us to experience Your presence, enjoy Your provision, and live in Your power!
