Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.  ⁶ Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.”  NET

Anxiety is an issue that every person deals with at some point in time.  I am incredibly grateful to the LORD for His wonderful Grace and Goodness.   This passage holds a special place in my heart, for it was the tool God used to bring me to Salvation.  It has been a key to understanding the various trials and tribulations of life and has resulted in an amazing victory.

Humanity needs God’s help to overcome anxiety and Worry!  Without divine intervention, the chronic worriers, followers of misplaced trust, and the confused never get relief.  Until Anxiety and Worry have been overcome, they will deal continual misery to the person tormented by them.   It has proven to be one of the devil’s most effective tools.

We can have victory over Worry!

• Worry causes a person to be Physically Sick, Depressed Mentally, and lacking spiritually.
• Worry hinders prayer and causes a person to place more trust in the arm of flesh than the hand of God.
• Worry is a deterrent to Faith and causes the loss of hope because it dwells in the natural, blind to the supernatural.
• Worrying is a Learned Trait.   No person was born worried.
• Worry can be overcome by learning to rely on God’s Word, Person, and Power.

There are two types of things we should not worry about.   Those things we cannot help or prevent.  Those things we can help or prevent.  The writer of Proverbs gives the pathway to Spiritual Victory.

1. TRUST The Lord with All our Heart.

The idea and implication are “Total Trust,” where one places their entire life in the hands of God’s providence and care.  It means living a life of expectant obedience.

We had to Trust God for Salvation.  In order to live victoriously, we have to have confidence in God’s Ability and Integrity.  We are to Trust God in Everything all the time!

1 Peter 5:7       – “Casting all your care on Him; for He cares for you.”

Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You.”

1. LEAN NOT to Your Own Understanding.

Man does not have the ability or intelligence to guide his own life successfully without God’s help.

Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Jeremiah 17:5-7 – “Thus says the LORD; cursed is the man that trust in man and makes flesh his arm and whose heart is departed from the LORD.  Blessed is the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”

That person is like a Tree Planted by the Waters:

• We Do Not Understand All Things in the Natural.  
  • We See Only the Outward and Know Only the Circumstantial.
  • We Have No power to change people and Few Things.

1. IN ALL YOUR WAYS Acknowledge Him, and He Will Direct Your Path.

1 Timothy 4:12 – “Be an Example of the Believer.”

Psalm 37:23 – “The steps of a good man are ordered of the LORD.

Isaiah 30:21 – “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.”

God has Promised to Supply all our Need.  He has promised to be with us all the time.  He has promised to protect us.  He has promised to return for us.  Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled…” 

If we are in Christ and He is in us, there is absolutely no reason to allow worry or anxiety to prevail.

CONCLUSION:

• Worry is not a product of faith; it is a fruit of fear.
• Worry is an attack of the enemy seeking to ruin our lives and burden us unnecessarily.
• Worry is rooted in confusion and fear, and we know the author of both.

God is not worried, so why should we worry?  God is in control so that we can trust Him.   The question for each of us is, “Who Is The LORD?”   A secondary question is, “Who Is He To Us?”   A follow-up question is, “What Is It That God Cannot Do?”   His arm is not too short to save.  His power has not diminished so that He cannot heal, deliver, save, and protect.  He is The Living God!

Trust and Obey, for there are no better way to be happy in Jesus than to Trust and Obey!
