WHAT IS THE CHRISTIAN’S QUEST?

Philippians 3:7-11 – “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ  9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.”  NKJV

There is enough here to preach for months and write an entire book, but one particular phrase leaps off the page for me.  The beginning words of v.10 scream for my attention, “…that I may know Him….”  Of course, there is more, but where better to begin, for without this reality, none of the other has meaning.

That I may know Him is the cry of my heart, and there is an ever-growing hunger in my heart and spirit to KNOW Him.  I do not mean know about Him but to KNOW Him.  I have experienced the new birth, but I am talking about something beyond that entrance into the Family of God; I am speaking of the intimacy found in the biblical word KNOW.  In Genesis 4:1 we read, “…Adam knew Eve…”  The full meaning of the word KNEW is revealed in the following words, “and she conceived….”  He KNEW her in an intimacy that transcends knowing about but in becoming one in flesh and spirit.

I want to KNOW Christ in an intimacy where we are so completely one that there is no distinction between Him and me.  I want to KNOW Him so intimately that His thoughts become my thoughts, and the mind in Him becomes my mind.  In the natural world, it is impossible to KNOW someone on that level without spending time with them and investing yourself in them and in the pursuit of KNOWING them.

The critical question is, how can we KNOW Christ on that level?  We know Him through the Holy Spirit.  We know Him through prayer.  We know Him through His word.  We know Him through obedience.  We know Him through service.  We know Him through His suffering.  We know Him through His resurrection power.  We know Him by being transformed and having done all to stand, stand and follow the prescription Jesus gave in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness….”  We know Him by making Matthew 5:6 our life pursuit, “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

If we want something badly enough, we will make the time to pursue it, invest whatever it takes to achieve it, and devote our energy to realize it.  In relationships where love is deep and true, it is a small thing to invest energy in learning the object of our devotion and affection.  In our spiritual relationship, too often, we seem to want to KNOW Jesus, as this passage describes, without investing or divesting ourselves as required.  He must become LORD of All if He is to be LORD at all.

Those who have trained in martial arts tell me that it requires and requires a total commitment to master the discipline and techniques to become proficient in their art.  Those who are successful in business tell me that it requires a singular devotion and commitment to the pursuit of that business to succeed.  Those who have successful marriages and relations declare that they have invested themselves in the quest to know their mates. Although it was an easy decision, it is a continual process and requires total commitment.  Knowing does not just happen; there is no shortcut to coming to KNOW.

If you are hungry to KNOW Him, you can KNOW Him on that level of intimacy, but it will not be easy, nor will it be without pain.  No one in their right mind would desire to suffer, but in KNOWING Him fully, we must KNOW His suffering, for it reveals His heart.  His suffering pulls back the veil of the WHY of the Cross and the Power of the Resurrection.  May a craving and commitment to KNOW HIM to be birthed in each of our hearts.

God bless you richly as you embark on today’s journey.

DO YOU WONDER WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK SPIRITUALLY?

Joshua 1:1-9 – “After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them — the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong, and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”   NKJV

My title question is worthy of consideration even if you do not feel you are being held back from pursuing your dreams and purposes.  I have to ask a follow-up question, “Are you reaching your full potential?”  Then, “If not, why not?”  Is there anything holding you back, spiritually or in any other way?  I hope to use this account regarding Joshua to help us see some possible hindrances personally.

Moses, Joshua’s mentor, was dead.  Joshua had inherited the mantle of leadership and was responsible for leading the nation of Israel.  Even with his experience of watching Moses and learning the positives and negatives of his role, he is clearly filled with trepidation.

It is one thing to know you will become the person occupying the decision-making chair and another to put on that hat.  God comes to Joshua and says, “Joshua, Moses is Dead!”  Have you ever wondered why God said that?  Joshua knew that Moses was dead, but God said it to identify Joshua of something that was potentially holding him back.

It could have been that Joshua was intimidated by the leadership style of Moses.  He may have had trepidation, fearing that the people would not respect his authority and follow his directives.  He may have questioned his own ability and even questioned his ability to clearly and truly hear God.  I do not know what was truly involved, but God first reminded him, “Moses is gone, and now it is up to you.”

God made some powerful promises and commitments to Joshua if he would do what God directed and promised to be with him in all things and at all times.  Then God said, “Be strong and of good courage….”  Okay, that could be a simple statement of encouragement, but it might identify the seedbed of fear that was budding in his heart and mind.

In the following sentence, God says, “…be strong and very courageous….”  This emphasized the need for courage.  But to make matters worse, in a sense, God says in verse 9, “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”  God addressed his fear and the need for courage three times in a very short span.  Something was coming that would not be very comforting, and courageous action would be required.

I am convinced God was not simply speaking of enemies from the outside but also the unwillingness, at times, of his own people to cooperate.  Yet, I believe there was an even greater issue involved: Joshua’s heart and mind.  Thus, God said, “Moses is dead….”  Joshua could no longer rely on Moses but must now rely on God and hear God for himself.  Joshua must not step out in obedience and faith.

Many, if not most, of us need to have our Moses die so that we can move out from under the shadow and the safety of that which we have relied on and place our trust and confidence in God and God alone.  It does not have to be a person that dies, but whatever has become our security blanket.  When we reach the place and come to the position that God is our source, we will shake off the shackles that bind us and allow us to become what God has designed and desires!

God bless you richly, is my prayer!

GOD’S SUFFICIENT GRACE – – Conclusion…

2 Corinthians 12:6-10 – But even if I would desire to boast, I shall not be a fool; for I will tell the truth: but now I refrain, lest anyone should think more of me than what he sees me to be and what he hears from me.7 And lest I should be exalted through the abundance of the revelations, there was delivered to me a thorn in my flesh, the angel of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted.8 Three times I besought my LORD concerning this thing, that it might depart me.9 And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I would rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.10 Therefore, I am content with infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, and imprisonments for Christ’s sake: for when I am physically weak, then I am mentally strong.”

Let us continue our consideration of God’s Sufficient Grace.  We saw that this Grace is Sufficient for Salvation and is Sufficient in Tribulation. Now, let us take another step in understanding God’s incredible Grace.

THIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT TO CARRY US HOME TO HEAVEN…

1 Corinthians 15:51-52“Behold, I tell you a mystery; We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed,52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Jesus promised that He would return for us, and the Bible clarifies in many passages that He is coming back for those looking for Him and those who remain faithful until He comes.

Hebrews 9:29 – “unto them that look for Him shall He appear.”

1 John 3:3 – “And every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself even as He is pure.”

This is not a sprint but a marathon; regardless of length, finishing is required to receive the prize in any race.  You have no reward if you begin but do not finish; all you invested is lost.  If we draw back, we nullify the Grace of God and, in a measure, slap Jesus in the face.

Jesus is coming soon, and I believe very soon!  In the meantime, regardless of how long until He comes, we can be assured that God’s Grace is Sufficient for our Salvation and to keep us in times of Tribulation as well as provide the vehicle to take us Home to Heaven.

Therefore, no matter what you encounter in this life, rest assured that you can totally trust and depend upon the Grace of God that is Sufficient.  Our LORD Jesus has never failed and will never fail.  As Hebrews 13:8 declares, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.”  HE NEVER CHANGES and NEVER FAILS!

The Question for each of us today is, are we trusting His Grace?  No matter who we are, what we have done or not done – His Grace is Sufficient.  It is Sufficient to Save our souls.  It is Sufficient to Keep us in times of Trouble.  It is sufficient to Carry Us Home!

God’s Grace is Sufficient Grace!  God bless you as you walk in His Sufficient Grace today!

GOD’S SUFFICIENT GRACE – – Part 2…

2 Corinthians 12:6-10 – But even if I would desire to boast, I shall not be a fool; for I will tell the truth: but now I refrain, lest anyone should think more of me than what he sees me to be and what he hears from me.7 And lest I should be exalted through the abundance of the revelations, there was delivered to me a thorn in my flesh, the angel of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted.8 Three times I besought my LORD concerning this thing, that it might depart from me.9 And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I would rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.10 Therefore I am content with infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, and imprisonments for Christ’s sake: for when I am physically weak, then I am mentally strong.”

We are discussing God’s Sufficient Grace and left off last time after we had given a preliminary consideration.  Today, I would like for us to take another step in considering the extent of this incredible Grace that is Sufficient.

THIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR SALVATION…

According to the Bible, which is the final authority on the matter, it is the ONLY provision whereby man can enter into the condition of being Born Again and Live Eternally.  It is the only road to Heaven.  There are not many roads to God, nor many roads to heaven. There is the straight gate and narrow way that leads to life and the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction.  The choice we make concerning Jesus is of eternal significance.

Paul, the apostle, suffered persecution and much tribulation for his faith.  He suffered more than most could or would endure.  He, at times, seemed to be made of steel and had nerves of iron.  However, there is a secret to his ability to endure and succeed in his Christian walk, work, and warfare.  He found that there was something he could rely on in every situation.  He discovered God’s incredible Grace and realized that the Grace that brought him to God would keep him in his walk with God.

THIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR TRIBULATION…

Persecution is not something that only a few must endure, but Jesus said it would accompany godly lives.  He said, “the godly will suffer persecution.”  He did not say might but will as a definitive.  He warned that we would be hated by the world (those outside Christ) and that the devil would seek to kill, steal, and destroy.  Yet, he found that God’s Grace was Sufficient in all things and at all times.

What our world needs is not a new morality but old-time spirituality.  We need a personal relationship with Jesus and fully surrender to Him.  The apostle Paul suffered for the cause of Christ.  The world is constantly crying out for compromise, but Paul would not compromise his faith, and neither should we.  He chose to suffer rather than compromise His faith and convictions in Christ.

Today we are being presented with a new version of modern morality that is not morality at all but embraces licentiousness and a measure of idolatry and perversion.  We are told that we have to be more like the world to attract the world.  But Jesus said, “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me.”  The world’s true craving is not for compromise but a demonstration of the Power of God’s Grace in our lives.

The only army that ever strikes its colors is when it is defeated or in retreat, and the Body of Christ, the Army of God, is neither.  We are told in 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you but that which is common to man: but God is faithful; he will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that you are able; but will make your temptation to have a way of escape, so that you may be able to bear it.”

No matter what comes – Sickness, Grief, Poverty, Defeat on some level, or Soul Sickness we can depend on the Grace of God – It is Sufficient!  In all of his sufferings, the apostle Paul never lost sight of the vision of God’s Grace and never lost the Power it Provides.  He said that if his only hope were what this world offered, he would be the most miserable man of all time.  He knew that God’s Grace was Sufficient for Salvation and Sufficient in Tribulation.

I want to address this again, but I will pause here.  God bless you as you enjoy this day, walking in God’s Sufficient Grace!

SUFFICIENT GRACE…

When I think of Grace, I do not think of a blue-eyed blonde but God’s incredible mercy, love, and provisions.  In studying the Book of Acts, we quickly see a religious zealot who terrorized the Christians.  Before the Damascus Road encounter with Jesus, Saul of Tarsus was a religious terrorist of epic proportions.  He believed he was right, and, in his zeal, he sought to eradicate all the followers of this New Way, Christianity.

After his encounter with Jesus, he became a compelling voice for the cause of the Kingdom of God and the advancement of the Christian message.  He had an experience that he would relate time and again, “I was on the road, and I saw the light.”  Not just any light, but the Light of God.  He saw the one who is “Truth, Way, Life, and Light.”  He experienced God’s incredible mercy and unfathomable grace and was transformed.

There are some things about God’s Grace that I would like for us to consider.

THIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR SALVATION.

The Bible record reveals that man was created in a state of sinlessness but, due to deception, rebelled against the commandments of God and fell from God’s Grace.  Then, we realize that the Law given by Moses was incapable of saving the soul and transforming the heart.  We discover that blood had to be shed and that sacrifice had to be blemish free, yet the animal sacrifices could not satisfy fully.

As a result, man was bound for eternal hell due to sin.  The apostle John speaks eloquently of God’s incredible love and purpose in John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

This is a picture of Love beyond human comprehension and Grace to the degree that is incomprehensible to man.  Human grace cannot extend to the degree and reach the proportions God’s Grace does.  This grace is undeserved, unearned, and unequaled.  If man received what he justly deserved, he would spend eternity in hell for his rebellion.  BUT GOD, in His incredible Love, provided a way for restoration and redemption.  It was Grace that brought it to us.

I would suggest that once we realize the extent and magnitude of this Grace, it is unconscionable to reject it.  As the song says, “How can we refuse Him now?  How can we turn away from such incredible love?”  This Grace is Sufficient on many fronts and in many ways.  I want to address some of them but will pause now and begin anew on the morrow, considering God’s Sufficient Grace.

Have a fantastic day and may the Grace of God go with you, guard and guide you through the pathway of life.  God bless you richly, is my prayer!

HELLO, 2023. I SEE THAT YOU HAVE ARRIVED…

Jeremiah 29:11-14 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  NIV

The context of this passage was the LORD speaking to Israel about their return from Babylonian captivity and that after 70 years, there would be an awakening, and God’s plan would be put into play.  Israel would seek Him and find Him as they sought Him wholeheartedly.  As we come to the last day of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, my heart cries out for us to LOOK FORWARD rather than BACKWARD.

God has plans for us individually and collectively, including hope and a future.  In any situation or time when people truly begin to seek the LORD with a whole heart, He demonstrates His power and reveals Himself to them.  He has promised that if we Seek Him, we will find Him.  He is not trying to hide from us or make knowing His will, plan, or purpose difficult or impossible to discern.  It is in God’s interest for us to know what He wants and then do what He directsHiding that from us would not serve the purposes of the Kingdom.

Rather than looking back on the disappointments of 2022, why don’t we look forward to the possibilities of 2023?  Rather than lamenting over the failures of the past, let’s look toward the victories of the future.  At 12:01 AM, the year 2023 began.  God is still God, and His plan and purpose for our lives are still real and possible.  Nothing anyone or any power can do will change that.  The devil may try and will try to get you to lose focus on the prime objective and discourage you but resist his temptations and set your focus squarely on the Throne of Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ.  Take these words in Jeremiah as your personal word from the Lord for 2023, and enter this New Year with Hope, Faith, Enthusiasm, and Confidence!

None of us saw, in totality, what we wanted to see this past year.  We may have seen some significant and wonderful things as well as awful and discouraging things.  This New Year affords us a clean slate, and we have the opportunity to begin on January 1, 2023, as a journey of faith that will be the most exciting and productive year of our lives.

May God be with you as you go through your day!

ENCOURAGEMENT HAS INCREDIBLE POWER…

Proverbs 12:25 – “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.”  NKJV

We have all had times when we either received an encouraging word or gave one.  Through the years, I have had people tell me, “You just don’t know how much what you said meant to me.”  I have often been utterly unaware that I said anything of particular significance. Still, somehow the Holy Spirit directed my words to be the right word at the right time for the right situation to produce the correct result.  I have received words of encouragement in the same manner.  Through those situations, I have come to appreciate the power of a word of encouragement.

When a person begins to succumb to anxiety, fear, frustration, or worry, it brings depression and weighs down the heart.  It is like carrying a load you cannot see but can feel and exhausts you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  It will sap your strength and propel you into the darkness and, if not checked, can lead to incredibly destructive self-pity.

David said in Psalm 94:19, “When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Thy consolations delight my soul.”  Jesus urged us in John 14 to reject a troubled heart by focusing on His promise and provision.  Encouragement is incredibly powerful because it enables a person to combat discouragement and renews a sense of worth and significance in the heart.  Encouragement helps fuel or empower a person to move out of the shadows into the light of God’s promises and purposes.  Paul instructed in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” NIV

Always remember the times when you needed someone to give you an encouraging word and how much it uplifted your heart and spirit.  Instead of looking down on someone suffering from depression because of anxiety, remember that except for the Grace of God, which could be you, and you have been discouraged and depressed.  I never want to receive or give flattery, but I want to give and receive encouragement.

I have had times when simply giving me a word of cheer was insufficient and needed to be slapped in the face (figuratively) with the reality of my situation.  I needed to be challenged to shake off the depression and look to the Word of God for my hope and help.  I remember once battling discouragement having a friend who would begin singing when he saw me.  It irritated me initially, but after a few times, it began to stir something inside, and as the chains of despair began to break, I could see what he was doing and rejoice with him.

You never know the power a kind and encouraging word will have in and on a person’s life.  Therefore, remember what God has brought you out of and always have a word of encouragement for a brother or sister battling anxiety.  Your encouragement may be the catalyst that lifts them from the darkness into a new walk of victory.

Blessings as you go through this day!

ARE YOU HUNGRY FOR GOD?

Psalm 42:1-3 – “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.  2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?  3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, “Where is your God?”  NKJV

When I read passages like this and compare the heart cry of the Psalmist to the deep cries of my soul, I am moved deeply.  As I read these few verses, I cannot help but sense the incredible longing of the writer for God’s revealed and realized presence.  He was comparing his hunger and thirst for God to a deer battling the eat, longing for water to be refreshed.  He then adds that a longing has so moved him that the well of tears from within his being was like a never-ceasing fountain.  His tears have consumed him, rendering him unable to consume natural food due to his quest for God.  He cries that his inner man continually asks, “Where is your God?”

I have experienced times of intense longing and am currently so hungry and thirsty for God that I find myself weeping on my bed in the night, crying out for His presence in a more pronounced way.  The intensity of His presence is not always consuming in our lives, and I am not sure we could survive physically if it were.  However, the consciousness of His presence is needed to overcome the assaults hurled at us by the enemy of our souls.  By the strength of His presence, we can withstand the many twists and turns life hurls at us.

God identified David as a man after His own heart, and when I read passages like this, usually attributed to David, I understand how God could so describe him.  He was a man, a leader, a king, and a warrior who had a passion for God.  David instituted worship in the Tabernacle like never before experienced, for he understood the importance of the presence of God.  He understood that we enter God’s gates and courts through worship and praise.  We invite His presence most powerfully through our worship and praise.  Additionally, through Scripture and the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, we know the importance of prayer as a means of communication and communion with God.

I believe that appetites are cultivated in the natural and in the spiritual.  As we ingest His word, pray, praise, and worship, we cultivate the appetite for Him, and in so doing, we develop a hunger and thirst that motivates us to press into His presence.  In His presence, we receive strength, renewal, and restoration, enabling us to fulfill His purposes for our lives on planet earth.

If you are not hungry and thirsty for God, I suggest you develop a habit of prayer, reading the Bible, praise, and worship. Hunger and thirst will be a natural byproduct of those activities.  As we engage in those activities, our hearts become conditioned to receive His presence, and our souls begin to long for His presence.

God bless you as you allow the Holy Spirit to make you hungry and thirsty for God.  Blessings as you move to the next steps and phases of your life on planet earth.

IT’S NOT COMPLICATED…

Acts 16:25-34 – “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”

29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.”  NKJV

I have heard so many explanations on what is required for salvation that I often get frustrated that what I hear, at times, is “Jesus Plus….”  In this particular account, we find Paul and Silas and others in prison, and these two stalwarts for God were leading a Praise Service and were ministering to others who were incarcerated.  As they sang and prayed, an earthquake shook the place so hard that the prison doors opened, and their chains fell off.

This was no typical earthquake but the work of God.  The guards had been napping, and under Roman law, they would pay a severe penalty if the prisoners escaped. Rather than face the horrific possibilities, the prison keeper prepared to commit suicide.  He would have carried out the act had it not been for Paul.

The man was so moved by what had happened that he ran to them, asking one of, if not life’s most important questions, “What must I do to be saved?”  Their response was simple, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ….”  The promise was that not only would the jailer be saved, but his house would come under God’s protection and salvation.

THEN… So many times, we miss the “then” of Scripture.  Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and all who were in his house.  They presented the Gospel, which is the Good News.  The Bible teaches that we are to repent, believe, confess, turn from sin, and be baptized.

I once heard an evangelist tell people that because they were not crying as he deemed they should, they were not saved and had not repented.  Some incredible soldiers in the kingdom of God have testified that they had little emotion when they encountered the Lord, realized their guilt, confessed, and repented.  Most of them have declared that emotions came later but the guilt lifted at that time.

In my own experience, had I followed the directive of this evangelist, I would have concluded that I did not receive the Lord that faithful night.  I felt as if I were walking on air.  I sensed that a heavy load was lifted from my shoulders and a peace that I could not describe or explain settled over me.

I was not in tears but was genuinely sorry for my sin and desirous to be free from the clutches of sin.  My focus was not on heaven or hell but on my sinful condition breaking God’s heart, which broke mine.  I was guilty and wanted to go in the opposite direction in life.  I confessed my sin, repented, and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and GOD SAVED ME.  I was baptized later!  The plan is simple, and the work on the Cross is finished.  It is Jesus, not Jesus plus.  Salvation is a gift, not an earned reward.  You will never be good enough, but you can be free through His grace!

God bless you as you go through this day!

THE LORD’S PRAYER – – OUR PRAYER…

Matthew 6:9-13 – “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.  11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” NKJV

When Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, this is the prayer that He gave them as a guide.  It is so powerful and, sadly, has become something committed to memory and frequently uttered with little thought as to what is being said.

Let us consider it briefly:

  1. It begins by recognizing the Heavenly Father as Hallowed.
  2. It moves to the recognition that His Will is preeminent over everything in heaven and earth.
  3.  It recognizes that our daily provisions and life come from Him.
  4. It recognizes and acknowledges that He is the one who can forgive.
  5. It acknowledges our responsibility to forgive others, remembering our own forgiveness.
  6. It seeks His help, guidance, and enablement to not succumb to temptation and to be protected and delivered from the work of evil.
  7. It concludes with recognizing God’s Position, Power, and Permanence.

If that will not get your motor running, your engine is dead.  As you pray, think about what is being said, acknowledged, and requested.  As you do, you will view life differently and others with a different perspective.

May God be with you as you go through your day!  Blessings
