Deuteronomy 12:8-12 – “You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes; 9 for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you. 10 When you cross the Jordan and live in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in security, 11 then it shall come about that the place in which the Lord your God will choose for His name to dwell, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the contribution of your hand, and all your choice votive offerings which you will vow to the Lord. 12 And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance with you.”
As I read, prayed, and mused on the Word of God today, a three-word phrase kept echoing in my heart and mind. “Dispossess Then Possess!” Deuteronomy 12 was the catalyst for my meditation on our promised victory.
Many believers know that we have great and precious promises. It is knowledge in their heads, but not in their hands. It is theoretical, not experiential.
Some seem to see the fulfillment of the promises as a future (heaven) experience rather than a now possibility or reality. Before we can Possess the promises, we have to Dispossess the enemy (anything that prevents the promise).
There are 5 elements in the Dispossessing process we need to embrace and implement.
1. We must DISCERN. Mark the enemy or hindrance. We identify the hindrance (thoughts, desires, deeds, beliefs, etc.). We study the promises and learn to use the WORD as a weapon.
2. We must develop DISDAIN for those hindrances. We despise anything that prevents or hinders our relationship with God. ANYTHING! We renounce and reject every hindrance. It must be placed on the altar to God.
3. We DISCLOSE the identity of the enemy. We uncover and expose those hindrances to the Light of God. The Light sends the demonic, ungodly cockroaches into hiding. We disclose by declaration!
4. We must DISCOMFORT the enemy. We put them in a state of confusion, commotion, consternation, beat down, and terrified. How? The Word of God! Know it, confess it, declare it, believe it, and implement it.
5. We must DISINHERIT the enemy. The enemy now controls and enjoys the benefits of our inheritance and promises. We must disinherit them and seize the possession.
Preparation always precedes blessing! No containers, no oil. No ditches, no water. No surrender to God, no victory over the devil.
We have been given great and precious promises. Christ is IN us, and we are IN Him. He is 100% victorious, and He is living in us, and through us, is He any less victorious in us than when He walked the Earth?
When will we Dispossess the enemy and Possess the promises? Why Not Today? What do you need? Is it worth the battle to you?
Have a fantastic day!
