Infectious Enthusiasm and Unambiguous Love

2 Corinthians 9:11 – “You will be abundantly enriched IN EVERY WAY as you give generously ON EVERY OCCASION…it causes many to give thanks to God.”

Two thoughts gripped my heart as I read, prayed, and meditated on the Word: infectious enthusiasm and unambiguous love.  In 2 Corinthians 9, the giving chapter, which is about money but much more, reveals both qualities.

Luke 6:38 is a foundation for this truth.  “Give, and IT shall be given to you…” The “it” factor cannot be omitted.  God’s principles span everything and are never limited to the primary subject or object.

The Law of Sowing and Reaping touches every dimension of life.  We have received the immeasurable grace of God.  How can we not share it lavishly?  We have received forgiveness beyond compare.  How can we not share it without hesitation or reservation?

2 Corinthians 9 reminds us that in giving, we receive.  We cultivate the ground of our hearts for a greater harvest.  We empty our reservoir, creating room for more.

How can we not love others if we have received God’s extravagant and unambiguous unconditional love?  Love is uncontainable.   If hoarded and not shared, it stagnates and becomes selfishness, not love.   Love is action, not articulation.  Love is a demonstrated action, not an illustrated illusion.

God gives us seed to sow, which becomes bread to eat and more seed to sow.  One act of kindness, generosity, love, and grace produces multiple harvests.  It touches the one sown into, the one sowing, and the bystanders who see and hear.

If we truly understand what we have been given, we will be infected with Grace’s contagious enthusiasm.  Christ in us is driven by the unambiguous love of God to flow out to others.

If we know what we have received, we will find it impossible not to sow it in others.  The love of God compels it.  It is never complacent.  The powerful message of 2 Corinthians 9:11 resonates, “You will be abundantly enriched IN EVERY WAY as you give generously ON EVERY OCCASION…it causes many to give thanks to God.”   [Emphasis mine] This is far more than money; it is everything!

So, freely, you have received freely give and watch what God does.  The lack, needs, walls, barriers, and obstacles will become like the walls of Jericho; no more!  We are to give what we have, not what we do not have.   Whatever God has deposited in us is givable.   As we give, we live and receive multiplication!   Today is sowing time.  Harvest is coming!

Have a fantastic day, and keep looking for the prize of the high calling of God.  Live with Infectious Enthusiasm and Unambiguous Love!
