Proverbs 1:5-6 – “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.”
Today, as I read and meditated on the Word in prayer, I was reminded of a deep need. That is “The Art of Listening.” We all hear but do not always listen rightly.
We listen in many ways. We listen to formulate a response. We listen for what we want to hear or anticipate hearing. We listen to the words, not the content, and do not perceive the intent. We make words more powerful than the heart.
Proverbs 1:5 tells us that a wise person listens, and in Listening, they increase in learning (knowledge and understanding). The person who listens gains understanding, and understanding elevates them to a higher responsibility or sphere.
Wisdom is from God, and Proverbs 2:1-5 informs us that “if” we seek wisdom (which is God) as indispensable, we understand worship. What it is and how to worship.
That opens the door to the storehouse of the knowledge of God. That is dual knowledge of who He is and the storehouse of the knowledge He has. He wants us to have permanent access to the storehouse of wisdom and knowledge.
Trust is the key. But we do not trust until we know.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord do not trust your understanding or rely on your wisdom. Acknowledge Him in ALL that you say, do, or think AND…”
He will be your life guide, enabling you to navigate through the seas of life. Proverbs 3:8-10 provides an incredible promise. The promise is healing with life-perpetuating health. We will have full barns and possibly even full bank accounts. God desires that we give ourselves wholly to Him, Obey Him, and pursue Him.
As we see Him, we become transformed into His likeness. (This is not having fleshly similarly, but character and heart.) Today, ask for help to listen. Ask for wisdom and understanding. Trust Him totally.
Victory is today and every day for the believer wholly surrendered to Jesus!
