Moving Life’s Mountains

John 11:22 – “Jesus replied, “Let the faith of God be in you!

In Mark 8, the disciples were fretting over failing to bring bread for the journey.  This was immediately after feeding the 4,000.  Jesus had been warning them of the leaven (teaching, practice, and ideology) of the Pharisees and Herod (religious and civil government).

Mark 11:17-18, Jesus chided them for their focus and investment into routine living that focuses on the natural.   He urged them to become those who focus on kingdom living, which focuses on the supernatural.   We get bogged down in the mundane and routine and miss the important and supernatural.

His question, “Who do you say that I am?”  Then, He pressed that to a deeper level and elicited their acknowledgment of the revelation of Him as Messiah.  Who He is to us, who He truly is to us, is reflected in our thoughts and deeds.

When Jesus was on the Mount of Transfiguration, God Himself spoke to the three and said, “This is My beloved Son, and you need to always listen to Him!”   That is a revelation to each of us.  We must always make Jesus and His Words the most important.  Our mission is to Hear and Obey!

When the man brought his demon-possessed son, he said, “IF you are able.”  Jesus said, ‘What do you mean IF?”  It is not.   If it is, do we believe, trust, and expect?

Mark 9:49 is super challenging.   Salt in the natural is good, but if it loses its flavor, you can’t make it flavorful again.  Jesus said, “Your lives, like salt, are to season and preserve.  So don’t lose your flavor…”  That goes back to making Him first and pursuing kingdom-realm living, not being bogged down by the mundane and routine.

That brings us to Mark 11 and the Mountain Moving prayer.  Mark 11:32, “Let the faith of (not just in) God be in you!  If our hearts are totally invested in God and His kingdom.   If we are totally obedient.  If we are focused on Him, we can pray miraculously.

We need to be convinced of God’s ability and willingness to grant our petitions. Before we worry about what we ask for, we should focus on Him. Then, our asking flows from His heart, and we can pray expectantly.

We often don’t see mountains moved (literally or figuratively) because we are not convinced it will happen.   We hope it might.  We wish it would. When it doesn’t, we revert to a pharisaical mindset about deserving or earning it.  Faith is not earning; it is obeying with gratitude.   Another reason we don’t see the miraculous is found in vv. 25-26, total forgiveness.

Matthew 6:33 – God first.  God above everything.   God becomes everything.   Then, watch out for the supernatural.

God’s purpose for us is inside us, awaiting full release. We are miracles and carry that mustard seed in our hearts. If we release it all to God, it will be released into our world. So, let’s receive and release!

Talk to your mountain in faith and expect it to be removed! God loves you so much that He has provided all you could ever need!
