Two Paths, Two Choices, Two Results

Romans 7:21 – I find therefore (referring to that inward struggle) that the Law agrees with my conscience when I wish to do good, but evil is always near, distracting me.”

In my prayer, reading, and meditation time, my heart was overwhelmed with God’s goodness.   I saw the struggles of my heart and countless others in this walk.

In 2 Chronicles, we see Uzziah becoming full of pride because of success, fame, and wealth.  We also see Manasseh repenting when trouble comes.

Two paths, two choices, and two different results.

In Romans 7, Paul reveals the struggles between the heart (spirit) and the body (flesh).  In verse 21, he says something interesting but revelatory.   “I find, therefore (referring to that inward struggle) that the Law agrees with my conscience when I wish to do good, but evil is always near, distracting me.”

He said, “Distracting me?”   What?  He said he delighted in the Law of God in His spirit (heart).  But the struggle in his flesh (carnal desires) was warring against the Law of his mind and making him captive to the Law of sin in his members.

Romans 8:1 “There is no condemnation to them who walk in the flesh after the Spirit of Jesus Christ.”

The confusion and condemnation for failures and missteps in the body are not God’s focus.   We focus too much on the flesh and are distracted.  We do not give the flesh a free pass, saying, “I am saved in my spirit, so the flesh doesn’t matter.”

It does matter, but if we realize that those misques and missteps are distractions, we still fail to progress.  The more we focus on the heart and the mind, the less control the flesh has.  The more we are distracted, the more power the flesh gains.

THE KEY           Seek FIRST, Second, Third, into infinity seek GOD.

We must train our minds by right thinking and focus.   What is in our minds, if focused on, gets into our hearts and transforms us.  Remember, we live in a body impacted by the temptations of this world, but if we refuse to be distracted, we become Transformed and conquer the flesh, becoming Who God says we are.

If you stumble, you do not have to fall.  Do not be discouraged; Christ in you is your hope, so Patiently wait for Him.  He will not fail.

I expect today to be a victory day for you.
