Colossians 3:12-17 – “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” NKJV
I watched the sunrise today. I like seeing the sunrise when I have my Bible in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Today, I have a song on my heart and a spring in my step as I listen to the day dawn and the voice of the Spirit of God. GOOD MORNING! He whispered this in my ear!
The LORD gave us some adornments to put on – tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, forgiving one another… forgiving just as Christ forgave us. Then He said, “But above all…” I immediately thought, “If it’s above all, it must be important.”
What was I to do Above All? PUT ON LOVE! He said that is the bond of perfection. He continued with “AND,” let the peace of God Rule in your hearts. Wow! We are to Love like Jesus, forgive like Jesus, and have the Peace of Jesus. But he did not stop there. We are instructed to “LET (allow or cooperate) the Word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom, Teaching and Admonishing us,” and when we do, others notice and want to know how we are to do that.
It is with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs! We are to become people of Praise and Worship, not people of circumstance, environment, or condition. Our focus is on Him, not ourselves, our situation, our condition, or our position. Then, in that state, we are to do WHATEVER we do in word or deed in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through Him!
He described the character we are to demonstrate as the “new man” or “new woman” in Christ Jesus! Old things have passed away, and all things have become new. We have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son. We have been liberated from the flesh to walk in the Spirit through the Power of His Grace, Mercy, and Love!
Therefore, I urge you to go forth today with a different view of Who You Are in Jesus! You are a Victor, living in Victory and Victorious! This is a great day to serve the Lord! Opportunities surround us, and all hell assails us, but heaven’s power sustains us.
I bless you as you begin this new day in Jesus!
